Ramadan 1432, day 1-5

Our first five days

Day 1, Ramadan is here, alhamdulillah, find the moon for me!

Today Adam and Roqaya got to use their moonsighters. They have learned through the last three days that an islamic month starts with sighting the new month. We did talk about this hadeeth at the 29th of shabaan:
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Fast when you see it [the new moon] and stop fasting when you see it, and if it is cloudy then complete the month with thirty days.”

And they understood why I couldnt tell them before they went to bed if its ramadan tomorrow or not. So when we had completed thirty days they were happy to "sight" the moon with their moonsighters.

*picture removed, it showed Adam sighting paper moons at the wall*
I had printed 8 crecsents and numbered them from 1-8 and made a simple worksheet were they could check off each time they sighted a new moon. I could not get a good picture of Roqaya as she insisted on facing me all the time.

I left the moons up for them and they kept coming back to the activity through the day.

Day 2, some nullifiers of the fast and sunnah for iftar

Today we learned about some of the things that annuls our fast, I did not introduce to them everything this year. Mostly because they are young and I guess its enough new things to grasp if I not also should add intimate and women issues on top at this time. We made the mobile from Islamic bulletin boards and we put it at our board, alhamdulillah.

I have no pictures when we were making it since my hands were full

We talked about iftar and breaking our fast and the sunnahs regarding it, to break our fast with dates or water and the supplication to be made and what it means. They will insha Allah memorize it when practicing it throughout this month.

Roqaya did this worksheet on iftar from the acitivity book of Umm An`numan

Day 3, a fasting day - and some things that affects our fast

Today we put together a fasting day wheel and went through it several times then and later on. I guess Adam realized for the first time what suhoor really is through this activity, masha Allah. He was like "its at night, when we are asleep, wow". And they laughed about the figure showed for controling anger, and this lead us into the conversation of things that may affect our fast. We went trough the sheet about things that affects our fast from TJ`s ramadan organizer. And sis Umm Suhaila: it was after this talk I got the comment of having sabr not to ruin my fast. May Allah guide us all and accept our fasts.

The pic of the bulletin board inlcuding our fasting wheel wouldnt upload now so I only have this pic of the materials ready to be used, you will see the finished wheel later insha Allah.

Day 4, good deeds- what are they and making good deeds tree

Today we talked about doing good deeds, we first used our lap book and read about the good deeds mentioned there.

And we talked about what can be good deeds. Then we read the dar ul kitab book about good deeds. We talked about surah al asr and amilus salihat. We also used the good deeds sheet with suggestions of good deeds for different occations from the TJ ramadan organizer.

So I asked them if we should make a good deeds tree were we could put a leaf on when they do good deeds and have their good deeds written down on it. Idea from Umm AbdulBasirs blog. And I briefly told them about the angels writing our actions and words for us ALL the time. They liked the good deeds tree idea, alhamdulillah since I had already prepared everything.

Day 5, we love dates - our entry for Umm Saras ramadan give away

The Messenger (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) said, “O Aisha! A house that has no dates in it their family is hungry. Oh Aisha! A house that has no dates in it their family is hungry.” [Saheeh Muslim (153), (2046)].

This was our main hadith that we talked about, and we also reviwed the ahadith from the lap book regarding dates and talked some more about them.

We made a date palm like this

*picture removed. It showed the kids watching the video of intructions of how to make the palm"

And we played the dates fall down game from a muslim child is born. Roqaya loved it, but it was too easy for Adam, he loved the rhyme though. Nice creativity from Umm An`numan as usual, masha Allah!

And then our muslim neighours got home from their vacation and we wanted to greet them ramadan mubarak so we printed some resources from smart ark fun stuff and prepared a small something extra for them connected with dates.

Adam and Roqaya prepared this card

And they made for their two youngest children these boxes and filled them with dates and sweets

Alhamdulillah, I guess five days reports will suite us, insha Allah. I have given up on the slide shows due to tech issues so bear with me if the posts get long sisters.
